INDIA’s TIRING OLD SYSTEM (Editorial)

Indian law and order is great “if there is a law to punish criminals then there is always a loophole to that law which allows those criminals to escape that punishment,”.. It all depends on how strong and influential you are…” If you are not financially or politically strong then you are fighting a loosing battle. A living example of this is Sanjay Dutt … who has been accused of taking the arms from Abu Salem the main culprit for the 1993 Bombay Blasts.. It is indeed disheartening to see that just because Sanjay Dutt is a Bollywood star the court has been lenient towards him and he was granted bail even though the TADA Court has charged him under the Arms Act. However the other accused of the 1993 blasts failed to apply for a bail and neither did they plead for any form of leniency just because it seems they were not powerful or rich enough.
Well he is not the only one taking advantage of power and money. There are some high profile politicians who are freely creating disharmony in India.. … It is a well known fact that Because Babri Mazjid was destroyed in 1992 Bombay was brought down to its knees by 13 blasts all over the city. Political leaders like L.K.Advani, and Bal Thakre were involved in creating the rift between Hindus and Muslims.… On a single day 250 people killed and 700 were injuredWhat did the government do??? … nothing… they just stood by and enjoyed that ‘tamaasha’.. after all disharmony among Hindus and Muslim will help them raisetheir political agendas for upcoming elections. These politicians should have been charged under the Criminal Act, but the court was never serious about punishing the main culprits as a result these politicians are still freely giving the poisonous speeches against certain sections of the society.

The public being so disheartened by the corrupt political and judicial system of India now prefer taking the help of the media which freely expresses the views and opinions of the common man. Today, because the media is not afraid of showing the true picture of politicians the general public is aware of the main culprit of the nation…But sadly our law and order is so weak that they fail to punish the real culprits. The hard fact is that bribe plays a very important role in solving the court cases. Why else are the weaker sections of our society generally ignored or not given timely justice??? Because they cannot afford to bribe the right policemen.
Even though there is corruption in our society I still believe that there is hope because we have democracy. … our constitutional laws are not bad and are equal for everyone. On the other hand, bureaucrats or safekeepers of our society who run the system are not well organized. Investigative teams like CBI do not investigate cases seriously, police try and avoid registering cases against the rich and powerful members of our society. A good example of this point is the Nithari police in Noida. Lawyers prolong cases in court for years just because they are hungry for more money. A good example of that is the Jessica Lal or the Best Bakery case. and sometimes despite paying the right people it is still not sure whether the victim will get justice. It is tiring to hear the same old speeches from politician during elections which are filled with the same old empty promises. … If the CBI,. the police and the politicians do their work sincerelythen whole scenario of our country will improve. It is high time now. In the present century countries from around the world focuson progressing. Instead of concentrating on individual and selfish needs India needs to look at the basic problems. How can a plant be strong if its roots are so week.
